Sporting Partners for Action Research

Sparks N.I. is the Sporting Partners Committee of Action Research in Northern Ireland. Action Research is dedicated to preventing and treating disease and disability by funding vital medical research.

Our aim is to raise funds for vital medical research to prevent disease and
disability, especially for children, through sport and sporting events.

Each year, Action Research spends over £4 million on supporting cutting edge medical research and researchers. We can only do so thanks to the generosity and untiring support of individuals, companies and charitable bodies across the British Isles. Will you help Action Research continue its work in pushing back the frontiers of science and medicine?

Funds are raised in a variety of methods, from Boxing Day swims to golf competitions and from sporting lunches to ski days.

For over 40 years SparksN.I. has been fighting disease. In response to the Polio epidemic one of the 1st major grants was to Professor Dick at Queens University, Belfast, to set up the first virus laboratory.

Our committee is made up of sportsmen and women who are dedicated to the cause of raising money to give the most able scientists the best chance of success.

Tens of thousands of pounds are raised by SparksN.I. each year and distributed to research projects, but much more is needed to be done, therefore if you can help please contact SparksN.I.
