About the clinic                 The Bloomfield Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology Centre was founded as  Bloomfield Laser Clinic  in 1997 by South African born Consultant Dermatologist Dr Julian Handley MD FRCP. Dr Handley, undertook his undergraduate medical training at St Thomas’s Hospital in London and  has been a leading figure in the field of Dermatology since his arrival in Northern Ireland over 20 years ago. He holds the joint positions of  Head Dermatology Clinician,  and Director of the Northern Ireland Regional Skin Laser Centre at the Ulster Hospital, Belfast. Dr Handley is a general Dermatologist with a special interest in skin laser surgery, cosmetic dermatology,  skin and  hair restoration surgery. He is a member of the British Association of Dermatologist (BAD) and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh (FRCP), American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and the American Society of Medical and Laser Surgery (ASMLS).  The Deputy Clinic Director is Dr Robert Neill, a Bangor Based GP principal. All treatments  in the clinic are either undertaken by Dr Handley,  doctors or  registered nurses all of whom have been personally trained by Dr Handley.  All staff undergo  regular continuing medical education (CME) and attend both national and international training courses to update their skills.

Nurse Lead Clinics Tattoo removal, hair removal, cellulite reduction and body contouring are nurse-  lead services. All of our nursing staff have been personally trained by Dr Handley and operate under strictly supervised  clinical protocols. An initial free consultation will determine the nature and number of treatments required, any questions are answered and clients are offered a test treatment. These popular clinics operate throughout the week . We offer morning , afternoon and evening sessions specifically designed for your convenience.

How do I get in touch?                      We encourage referrals via general practitioners which can be made by post, e mail , telephone or fax. You can contact us directly if you wish but we do advise patients to let their GP know of their clinic attendance and treatment plans. At your request the secretary will provide specific treatment information, a full treatment and price list and a clinic timetable. Clinics are as far as  possible scheduled for patient convenience , both during working hours and in the evenings.

Where you will find us Bloomfield Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology centre has recently moved from Bloomfield road in Bangor to the idyllic coastal village of Groomsport, situated ½ mile of the East Bangor ring road just 10 miles from Belfast. The clinic is housed  in the “The Lodge” , a beautifully restored and refurbished , 18th century  Victorian listed building.
